Florence Lucas

February 9, 1933 – November 27, 2022

Devoted wife of the late Robert Lucas, Sr., and mother of Sherryl D. Lucas – Stockton (deceased) and Robert Lucas, Jr.

A longtime Yonkers, NY resident, civic leader, and retired Nurse (Yonkers General Hospital), Florence is survived by Robert Lucas, Jr. (son), and his wife Krystina; Anitra Allen (granddaughter) and her partner Dave Mackey; Quinton Rosado (great-grandson); Bettina Lucas, Amelie Lucas and Amara Lucas (granddaughters); Solomon Lucas (grandson); Vivian Gordon and Emma Coles (sisters); Roger Lucas (brother-in-law); Brandon Ortiz (godson); nieces, nephews, and a host of close family friends.

Florence joined Community Baptist Church (Yonkers, NY) in 1980 where she proudly served her church as a member the Senior Choir, the Parents Council, and the Floral Club.  She was alsoa devoted member of the Women’s Civic Club of Nepperhan, Inc.(2008), she served as Chaplain for three successive terms and cherished serving on the Shirley E. Williams Scholarship Committee.  Florence also was a member of the Terrace City Chapter #26 Prince Hall Order of Eastern Stars (1981).  From 1997 to 1999, she volunteered her services as a Community Aide to the City of Yonkers Office for the Aging at the Congregation Sons of Israel Senior Center.

Predeceasing Florence was Robert Lucas, Sr. (husband); Sherryl D. Lucas- Stockton (daughter); Seth Lucas (grandson); Ernest Knight (brother); and Ralph “Eddie” Lucas (brother-in-law).
